COVID-19 Updates

Greetings to all members of Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority, Inc.,

As the nationwide epidemic caused by COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc on society, the National Board of Directors has continued to monitor its effects and how this will affect our chapters this fall. Questions and concerns surrounding how chapters will operate this fall have begun to come in, and the National Board of Directors met tonight to create a plan of action that prioritizes the safety of our members.

ALL OPERATIONS FOR FALL 2020 WILL BE VIRTUAL! THIS INCLUDES ORGANIZATIONAL FAIRS, STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS WEEK(S) CAMPUS PROMOTIONAL EVENTS, ETC.

SHOULD ANY CHAPTER/COLONY CHOOSE TO OPERATE IN AN IN-PERSON CAPACITY, LIABILITY FOR EXPOSURE, OR ILLNESS OF ANY KIND WILL BE HELD BY THE INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED AND NOT THE ORGANIZATION AS A WHOLE.

During this difficult time in our nation, our focus is to make sure that all of our members are happy, healthy, and safe. As students, it can be quite a transition from learning in a classroom setting to an online platform. As an organization, I want to assure you all that you have our love, support and best wishes while facing this new challenge. We are here to answer any and all questions that you may have.

As we forge on this new journey of distance learning and life alteration, check on one another. One of our Project IMPACT areas Invisible disabilities comes to mind in the realm of dealing with feelings of anxiety and depression especially during this pandemic. We have dealt with our lives being turned upside down for the past 6 months, and we all may not be ok. I encourage you all to extend leniency to one another and continue to practice the ideals of service, friendship, and equality.

I personally want to thank everyone for entrusting us as the NBD to continue to make informed decisions in the best interest of you, our beloved members.

In Service,
Renata Porterfield
National President
34th National Board of Directors
