Leadership and Involvement
There are a number of ways to get involved or stay involved with Gamma Sigma Sigma. Alumni often reach out to use to find out how they can become actively involved. Collegiate members often look for ways to connect with other chapters. View the information on this page to find information on ways that you can get involved.
National Events are a great way to get involved with Gamma Sigma Sigma. The sorority has 4-6 Leadership Conferences throughout the country during the biennium. Leadership Conferences provide training, workshops, and service activities for all members. Leadership Conferences are for all members, not just for the leaders with titles in a chapter or colony. Each district coordinates a Spirit Day for all members to attend. Spirit Day consists of activities that are designed to build teamwork and increase the GSS spirit in you. In addition, every summer in odd number years, members come together for the National Convention. In 2012, Gamma Sigma Sigma initiated an annual National Day of Service to take place on October 12th each year. Visit the Service page to find out what you can do in your area to celebrate.
Committees and Assistants
Collegiate and alumni members can utilize their abilities, skills, and experience by serving the sorority as a committee member or assistant. There are nine committees that members can serve on during the year. In addition, there are three types of assistants that need members like you as well. Members are selected to serve based on their information submitted in the Prospective Workers form. Most committees have a specific number of collegiate and alumni members that can serve in the role. Read the full descriptions of the committees and assistant positions.
Chapter Consultants serve as ambassadors for the District Directors. They work directly with collegiate chapter members, officers and advisors. The role of the Chapter Consultant is to bring support and problem-solving skills to their respective chapter. They provide feedback on chapter operations, identify areas of potential improvement and address specific situations as they arise. Only alumni members can serve as Chapter Consultants. If you have a chapter near you, consider applying online to serve as a Chapter Consultant.
An advisor to a collegiate chapter/colony is a member of the faculty or staff at the university/college that advises on university/college policies and procedures. Additionally, advisors that are also members of Gamma Sigma Sigma, may serve in a capacity to advise in matters of Gamma Sigma Sigma.
National Board & Staff
Members interested in serving the national organization at a higher level, should consider getting involved with the National Board of Directors or Staff. There are 17 elected positions to the NBD, and one appointed position. In addition, there are nearly 10 staff positions available during the biennium. Applications are due during the months before convention unless there is a vacancy between convention. There are a number of ways to stay involved.
