Katy Haynes Owen, Ed.S. is a passionate alumna interested in sharing her love of service, diversity, and leadership with her fellow members. With years of experience as a District Director, Katy has a strong command of the various and unique needs of our membership and an intimate understanding of how to best facilitate teamwork. Currently, Katy is a doctoral candidate in Counseling Psychology at the University of Kentucky. Her professional clinical work focuses primarily on serving incarcerated men and women, though she has also provided therapy in college counseling centers, domestic violence shelters, crisis pregnancy centers, and the Veterans Administration. Her research expertise include qualitative data analysis, perceptions of racism, and racial health disparities.
Katy lives in Lexington, KY and is relocating to Fort Worth, TX in August 2016. She joined Gamma Sigma Sigma at the Gamma Kappa chapter at the University of Tennessee and has been actively involved in the sorority on a national level since her time as a collegiate member. Katy is married to a wonderfully patient husband, and they enjoy hiking and canoeing outdoors. Katy also enjoys reading, exploring new cities, and bargain shopping.
