Let’s Talk Service Update

Happy December Gamma Sigma Sigma members,

I am glad to send you this important update before the end of the year. If you are receiving this email, then you added your contact information to receive an update from me with service reminders, resources and happenings across the country. If you are changing service contacts for your chapter/colony this December, please update your information using the following link: This postincludes funding opportunities, award nomination reminders, the service report form, and what to look for in 2017.

Service Assistance Program

There is Service Assistance Program funding available to support at least 15 more service activities this biennium. You can continue to submit applications between now and April 1. I will review them as they come in, and you can expect to hear a decision within 2-3 weeks (excluding holiday break). I am attaching the form for anyone having issues downloading the form online.  Please keep in mind funding can be requested only for Project IMPACT projects for the following:
  • Supplies, materials, and publicity for events that benefit a nonprofit or charitable cause.
  • Travel expenses to volunteer with a charitable organization.
  • Supplies, materials, or publicity to create awareness that benefits a nonprofit or charitable cause.
  • Supplies or materials needed to actively participate in a service endeavor that benefits a nonprofit or charitable cause.

Project IMPACT Nominations

The time is here to nominate a new Project IMPACT area.  The nomination form has been updated. It clarifies what we are looking for with nominations for next biennium. The deadline is February 15. You can download the form online at

Distinguished Service Awards Nominations

Please be aware that the DSA nomination deadline is February 3. That is earlier than the other award deadlines. Details are explained in the nomination form. Remember the DSA winners will get $100 donated to the charity of their choice.  That form is available at

Service Merit Award nominations

This is the largest showcase of the outstanding service happening in Gamma Sigma Sigma to other members. By submitting your nomination for the Service Merit Award you are agreeing to also share your project with members during the service fair/exhibit at convention. To make things more exciting, the winner of this award is recognized during a meal at convention. Be sure to submit your nomination (as many projects as you like) by February 15, 2017. You can find it online at

Service Report

If you have experienced any issues with the service report, please use the attached form.

Holiday Break

If you have any questions, please let me know. Please note that the NBD will be on holiday break from December 23-January 3, 2017.

Look for in 2017

I want to particularly pull out National Volunteer Week in 2017. During the week of April 23-29, 2017. We ask that you recognize a campus or community member(s) for their service. This may be through a recognition banquet, event, or thank you cards. You are welcome to be as creative as you want. This will also be the week that we do a big push to celebrate the Woman of the Year.
Unity In Service,
Aurelia Spaulding
National Service Director
